hi all im new to this site iv just bought an 1999 sv650 im having bother ceaping the battery charged iv changed the battery but still goin flat but not all the time can be fine 1 day then flat as a fart the next then fine again without charging could it be the starter motor ??? any info would be good cheers

Hi and welcome.
Have you checked all the terminals on the battery, frame and starter motor. Try removing and cleaning them all see if that fixes the fault. When you say flat are the clocks lighting up when you think is flat if they are I would have a look at the right hand control cluster and clean all the contacts in there after all its were the starter and kill switch are housed. My sons pointy had a fault with a dirty safety switch in the clutch leaver so I stripped the switch and it works fine now. Good luck Ian |

hi all cheers for the replys iv just had a multimeter on the battery and its charging at 13.9 on idle but aplly revs and it drops to 11.5 ?????

If you look at the guide in Geodudes post it will tell you what to check next.Before binning the reg rec I would check the alternator output.
