(a study in finding out the mititations of your broken leg)
I got back on the bike last week after getting the all-clear from my consultant, and I've been getting on pretty well... Not good at paddling it around by foot or pushing/parking it, but riding was fine. And I can keep it upright at the lights and everything... Can I? Well, not with a full tank of fuel and the rear wheel on a speedbump I can't... Managed to get my leg out from under before it landed so I just strained the weedy muscles a little. No actual damage done to rider or bike though, and to be honest it's not going to be the last time i drop it before I'm back to strength- I've nearly had it over half a dozen times just getting it out of the garage... Scraped up main bung and swingarm bung, and a wee scratch on the tailpiece and mirror, and that's all. Couldn't lift it at all, so I had to get help from passers-by (always scary), and I've dinged up my leg again, but it'll grow back... I told you I'd test those bungs ![]()

Think of it as extreme therapy for body and mind.
![]() Seriously though I think it's good you've started back as soon as was allowable. Even though your injuries weren't bike related (slipped on ice didn't you?) just being off road for a bit and having to deal with a weakness is likely to put a ding in your confidence. If it hasn't, good on you. If it has, by positively dealing with it now you'll have no trouble once you are back to full strength. ![]() Have you tried the 'stand-astride-the-front-wheel-facing-the-rear-holding-the-bars shuffle ' yet? ![]() Or if you have an old mattress or a couple of blankets - using them to pad the garage walls is a good 'un. |

Firstly, I am glad you are ok.
Secondly, You muppet. The number of offs you have had, don't you think somebody out there is trying to tell you something. OK I grew up with horses and the first thing you do after a fall is get back on. You have about 70 horses so you don't need to do it 70 times ![]()
