popping out of gear

when givin 03 sv a bit of stick pop it onto 2nd and at 8 thou revs it pops back into neutral anyone hav any ideas ? and wat it would cost to repair

I have the same sometimes, just snick it back in.

Yet to try anything else, but do all the usual checks, oil level, chain etc.

Only 2 suggestions from me;
1 - Make sure you are firm with the gear lever if it is doing it from 1st to 2nd gear.
2 - Check your chain tension, I had loads of probs with mine when it wasn't tensioned correctly.

My gearbox has just gone and the best quote i could find in the midlands was about £400 labour and upto £200 parts. This will be reduced if i take the engine out of the frame.

Does this happen every time you hit 8k ish?

You can get a whole engine for less than that, then recoup some fo the costs by selling yours with the knackered box for a £100 at the very least.

yeah its always around 8000 revs wen going from a standing start just annoying me ! i thought it could be 2nd gear cogs might be knackerd.chain is always tensioned rite 2 £600 i think i will put up with it !

I know this may sound daft and I apologies if your offended
but....Is your gear leaver actually adjusted correctly.. If your not selecting 2nd fully might explain why it's popping out.

Maybe try lowering the lever...?

yeah ive already done that cos ive got big feet was having problems changing up so moved it rite down

I've just stripped my old engine for a autopsy, (big end went) got all the gear box bits if you want them, they look fine and the dogs look straight

Oh and have you checked the clutch?
