I discovered a problem today with my bike, after I worked so hard making her lovely this last few days too.
My engine temperature started to rise dramatically while sat in traffic on the way to Hospital, no problem thought I, the fan will kick in soon. It did not, it seems that the anti-hot switch thingie has broken. I have found that the anti-hot switch does not supply current to the fan, but both the fan and the fuse are working fine. This means that I now have to buy a new anti-hot switch and then drain my radiator to fit the thing. ![]() In case you are wondering what I am talking about, it is the anti hot switch that sits in the radiator and switches the fan on when the radiator gets too hot. I am sure that it has a technical name, but I don't know what it is, although I imagine that it is some kind of Thermistor that controls fan function, but do not know how it should work. So from now on, it is called a Anti-hot Switch! Damn thing... ![]() |

Thermostat actually sits in the coolant flow and restricts the flow to aid reaching operating temp quicker.
Jayne what you need is a thremo switch. Cheers Mark.

![]() This comes after buying a new speedo magnet, servicing the forks with new oil, adjusting the clutch and now I have sat in the garage for when I feel well enough to sort it out, a new Suzuki oil filter and a can of fresh engine oil. Damn bike is being spoiled and it still asks for more... Very Dickensian if you ask me. Time to fix it with my favorite tools. ![]() |

or you could just by-pass it and wire a switch in and take control.

![]() £40 for a thermister controlled switch does seem a little steep though, can such a small part really be so expensive? ![]() |

the CDI might throw a wobbly if the rad switch is disconnected so breaking into the fan wiring might be a better idea.

Were you a dispatcher in London in the 80's? Every bike had one of these for traffic holdups.
