Default Vista Wireless Network Problems...

Well I recently upgraded my computer and thought I'd give Vista a spin as we're at SP1 and the kinks are mostly ironed out, so now running Home Premium x64, however it doesn't seem to want to play nicely with my existing router and network, i know there's some networking type on here so i'm begging for help with this as it's massively frustrating

Hardware:
Netgear DG834GT Router w. latest firmware
Netgear WG311v3 w. latest driver for Vista

Now, the computer first installed the network card fine when i set up Vista, found the driver and all was peachy until about 3 hours after installing and setting up the wireless went down, there were two networks in the "Network and Sharing Centre" - one private with the name of my wireless network and one "Unidentified Public Network" - The connection was "Local only" meaning i could connect to the router and ping other computers on the network but not connect to anything beyond the router, no internet.

If I used a LAN cable everything worked fine, full connection to the internet but wireless was a no-go. I finally "solved" the problem by uninstalling the wireless card and then reinstalling it, and that worked overnight until i restarted the computer and now it's refusing to even connect to the network while security is enabled, claiming "wireless authentication failed because of a timeout"

So, with encryption on the WLAN (WPA-PSK) it doesn't connect, but if i disable encryption it works fine, at the moment i'm running unencrypted with MAC filtering in place but i don't want to have to run unsecured just because vista is being a ****

help oh knowledgeable network techs of the org, i know you're out there

sonnovabitch - for some reason vista was using AES instead of TKIP like every other bit of hardware on the network defaulted to

lets see how long this lasts...

it doesn't when you have the resources to throw at it, i'm running a quad core processor with 4GB ram and except for the network and another issue of it not letting utorrent exclusively access the HDD it's been flawless, fast and very good to look at, i was expecting more problems from changing to a new OS and going 64bit at the same time but it's been relatively smooth

survived two reboots now, a new record

just have to do something about the case temps, my GPU is hitting 75deg whilst idle

i had problems running vista wireless but my router was the wireless G+ and i was slightly out of range, the pc said i had a good signal but while messing around with the wireless dongle i got a good signal and no problems from then on.

Well I got a pair of computers that could run Vista no problem. I dont see the point though DX 10 runs slower than DX 9 (lose FPS) and the gain in detail is minimal...

My E6600 peaks at 45*C on full load and 35 idle... My Q6600 idles at 30*C and peaks at 40*C. (at 100% stress testing) You have issues Get one of these if it'll fit Its stays sooooooo cool its mental!

What you using to check temps? http://www.alcpu.com/CoreTemp/ thats the one you want

Speedfan temps:

CPU:
39
Cores 0, 1, 2, 3:
44, 44, 48, 42
System:
41
GPU:
74

Load temps:
CPU:
55
Cores 0, 1, 2, 3
57, 56, 59, 54
System:
41
GPU:
80-85

i just took the box apart and reduced the amount of thermal paste and the temps have dropped only ~3 degrees across the board, but i already have a Thermalright Ultra Extreme 120, which is pretty much the best air cooler you can buy right now

might just watercool it for a laugh...

How come yours randomly freezes then lou? Doesn't connect to "plug and play" hardware without a fight and won't let you go to page 2 on eBay lists?

Not impressed by any contacy I've had with vista, and will stick with XP pro untill I upgrade machine, then maybe XP pro 64. Unless I can be rsed to learn linux which is doubtful.
