Hi guys,
posted a thread about 3weeks ago now as to how my bike was restricted and after some investigation ive decided its through the airbox (am i right?), anyway mot's due on thursday and i asked the lad how much it would be if he did and he said 70quid, so i figured since ive got a garage with more than enough tools in it i may aswell have a bash myself... do i just lift the tank remove the airfilter and remove two washers? or is it not that simple... ![]() cheers, coops Last edited by coopesh56; 29-05-12 at 05:41 PM. |

I'm presuming you have a curvy here? If you've got washers, they sit between the carbs and the engine. The process sounds simple but is a bugger to do due to the position of the screws on the clamps that hold the carbs to the engine. The basic process is:
-Seat off -Tank up -Disconnect airbox hoses and loosen clamp -Lift off airbox -Unscrew both clamps holding carbs to the engine -At this point you can disconnect various hoses/wires to give you a bit more room but I couldn't be bothered, if you're careful there's enough room to put the restrictors in/take them out without disconnecting everything. -Lift up the carbs -At this point you'll see the washers; take them out (use long nosed pliers or something if you haven't disconnected everything from the carbs -Do everything backwards! Think that's pretty much it, it's fairly simple once you know how to do it and you could defo give it a go yourself, just be careful. |

iirc pointy is ECU and throttle stops. I'm sure using the search function should bring up something to confirm this

Yeh as daddyjob says pointy restrictions tend to be ECU or throttle stops.
If it's ECU restricted then it's easy as pie from what I've heard. A simple case of seat off, unplug old ECU and put a full power one back in. No experience if throttle stop, but can't imagine it would be very hard. You'll have to find out for certain which you have. |

Mine came with the throttle body restrictors and throttle stop, you need to unscrew throttle stop, LHS of TB, and remove the two washers between TB's and air box. If its the ECU then just change it for a full power one, its under the seat.

£70 are they taking the p*ss?
Remove 2 washers and a small stop, <1 hour. Swap ECU, 10 minutes. Unless you don't have the original ECU in which case rather more money.
