Default Bloody P***ture

So I go to take my bike on Saturday only to hear a strange squealing noise coming from the back tyre. "Hmm..." I think, "That can't be good". And lo and behold, there's a bloody great nail stuck in the middle of it.

Now I know this won't be as simple as changing the tube as on my old 125. It would appear it's repairable as its slap bang in the middle of the tyre and has just gone straight in. So who on here would recommend having it fixed, given that it's a ContiForce with 2,500 miles on it, or should i just bite the bullet and get a new pair of tyres? Either way can anyone recommend a good tyre place around the Preston area?

Thanks,
Alan

fix it!
i always replaced for bout two years! works out way too expensive!
plus last tim it happened i looked at the rear tyre ater it was taken off and looked at the temp repair, it wasnt going anywhere!
so i replace every time now!
and ok, the repairs are apparently speed rated!
been well over the limit on 3 repairs in one rear tyre! as i said...they were not going anywhere!

even simpler than fixing a tube tire

stick a plug in it, inflate it and ride

Thanks for the responses. I guess I'll give Shorrocks a call. I am actually considering selling the bike sometime soon though, how much would a repaired tyre put off buyers? Also, how easy is it to get the back wheel off an sv without a stand?

timwilky - I am in Hoghton.

Oh a local lad then, I am in Clayton le Woods. I can loan you a paddock stand for a couple of days. But as my car has just gone into the body shop thanks to thieving scum down south, you would need to collect it.

Give Bryan at Wheelton Garage a bell. He should do a good price on puncture repairs. BTW, He is a good guy for getting your MOTs sorted.

Bridgestone says "any tire repair done without demounting the tire is a bad repair"

Plugs hold air but you need a patch inside the tire. This way you keep speed rating. With only a plug, consider the speed rating to be "unrated"

I have never heard of a plug coming out but never took a poll.

Fill it with Ultraseal, only £20 for both the front and back tyres and it will be good for future punctures. Also you won't need to find a bike shop as it's a very easy DIY job.
