Default 4000 mile service

Hi all, I've got my 4000 mile service coming up on my k6 650, does anyone know roughly how much it's going to cost?

My closest Suzuki dealers are West London Suzuki and Steve Jordan Motorcycles, does anyone have good things to say about them?

Cheers Tapemonkey.

Good morning.
When I was down in Sunbury, just down the road from West London Suzuki, they were well er, lacking shall we say!
I can't say about Steve Jordans, as I have had no dealings with them.
A 4k service from a main dealer usually consists of not a lot, besides an oil & filter change, a bit of nut & bolt checking, & some general adjustments to the chain etc. £150 ish used to be the mark in that area, bit expensive for an oil change in my opinion.

Cheers.

I think I paid something in the region of £120 ish at George White in Slough.
It is a little bit further to travel but they are a decent bunch of guys and I have had no problems with their service as yet.
If you have to leave it a couple of hours the town centre is only a small walk so there is plenty to do to kill time.

Sarah, I see waht you are trying to say but Spanner Man is very much correct IMO as oil and filter change is pretty much what it is

It isnt actually an oil filter change either..but we do one anyway.

Inspect air filter - means taking off tank..air box lid etc if town riding all year round you can find you filter is clogged by now.
Tighten exhaust bolts - have seen these loose.
Inspect plugs - rarely need doing but check anyway.
Inspect fuel hose
Inspect throttle free play
Inspect radiator hose and clips are tight have seen some of these come in loose
Inspect clutch adjustment
inspect brakes - IE pad wear
Chassis and bolt check - important..you only have two wheels keeping you up!
As matter of course clean and lub chain for customer and adjust if required.
We also check beam aim - especially this time of year as headlights that are too high or are too low can be dangerous.

Its important people know that because those that are doing home servicing need to be checking things like these. Its general good maintenance.

As far as how many shops actually do all this..remains to be seen.

Sarah, I knew what was involved

Indeedy, most people will say, changing the filter is good practice. Infact I change my oil on average every 5-6 weeks.....2500-3000 miles. I'm not sure if it's really doing much good but that's what I like doing

Hmm...good point that.

I don't moan about prices much to be honest as my way of thinking is "fair enough but I just can't afford it" and not necessarily "oh that's taking the ****.".....if that makes sense.
Like a bargain mind as you know, but that's how I see things mainly.

.....but yes, good point as paying for a service every5/6 weeks, the monies soon adds up
