You have not looked at price of penske 8987 then (but it is porn. High and low speed comp adjust).

If you are not getting a custom built shock then why upgrade at all? Shock costs no more to build right than it does to build average.

8981 is not 3 way it is 2 way. Rebound and LSC.
8987 gets rebound LSC and HSC.

One I have spare was for SRAD600.

Ah right - I see. Mine's a curvy, so SRAD is no good anyway.

Why is SRAD no good? Length is fine and spring and valving would be replaced anyway.

Agreed, but it's all extra money. When you originally mentioned the shock, I though you were referring to a brand new SV specific Penske shock (hence the enthusiasm), not one I'd have to buy then get modified.

Is that a correct theory? Or is there a better suited shock for me?

Cheers

Yeah that shock should be an improvement, spring is slightly softer but you aren't heavy enough for that to matter and the addition of adjustable components more than make up for that.

Anyone know why there's such a jump in spring rate between the K7/K8 Gixxer thou shock, compared to earlier models? The bike didn't have a massive increase in weight. Race Tech's website says my ideal spring rate is 8.5 kg/mm for 95 kilos without gear. I don't take a pillion too often.
