Note that the spring rate of the ZX14 is pretty high, it won't suit most pointy riders unless they have pie retention issues like myself The ZX10R shock is virtualy identical though, just a little longer.

195lbs = 89ish kg = 14 stone. I'd say that spring would still be too stiff for you.

I changed the ZZR1400 spring on my shock for a ZX10R one this weekend. After a long ride out over some fairly rough roads I decided that 540 lb was too high for regular road use. Lovely on smooth tarmac though. New spring is rated at 465 lb and is possibly a tiny bit too soft but I need to play with damping.

Found another pointy advantage over the curvy You can drop a remote reservoir shock straight out of the bottom of the swing arm after you remove the dog bones on the pointy, don't even have to remove the main linkage from the frame. On a curvy space is too tight to do this; I had to take the bottom bolts out of the the subframe, unbolt exhaust hanger and hinge the whole thing up and take the shock out from the top.

I've been reading up on what to get for a while and I think I've decided on a gsxr 1000 k3/k4 rear shock. I weigh about 85kilos so I know the kg/mm isnt perfect but it should be a good improvement over the stock. Could anybody give me the nod to say its a good idea or if theres a better choice??

Better choice is ALWAYS going to be a shock actually built/designed to go into the bike you are fitting it to.
