the last few evenings i've deliberately been taking the bike out to the tightest places i know to get used to handling it at low speed whilst remaining smooth and observing in the right places, i find that more of a challenge than riding along a NSL

I used to be pants until i decided just to concentrate on my road position. It takes a while to get used to, being in the right position without thinking about it, but once it clicks its great. You can begin to use the bike so much more and get loads more enjoyment out of it.
Just like i did when overtaking those GSXR's. It wasn't nice sitting behind watching her ride like that, but looking back it makes me realise how much i've learnt. Going fast in a straight line is fun, but carrying the speed through the corners is twice as much fun. Going slow and getting the right line around a corner is more important than blating off at 100mph on and off the throttle ![]()

Yeah, a bloke on a fireblade. 2 up, both in jeans and tshirt. He was trying to keep up with me, and nearly crashing at every corner. He wasn't even quick on the straights. Either that, or the chap on the aprillia mille who had a 5 minute head start and that I caught up with (and overtook) 12 minutes later. And I was sticking to the speed limit and on an SV!

You are all wrong. It should read "Still, I will let you off with a warning because you are foreign."

Just wondering, did it occur to anyone that the reason that "hubby" was in front may simply have been because he knew the way?
Can I also say that I find it very amusing that we all assume the rider in front was a bloke and the one behind a woman. Could have been father and son, mother and daughter, hubby following wife, two best mates who happened to be buying bikes together... Just a thought... |
