Default Making the exhaust go BANG!!! Bad for the engine?

I can now reliably cause the exhaust to go BANG! on my pointy in third gear at town cruising speeds. I just can't help myself and do it 4 or 5 times each way on my commute of just 3 miles. I know it's probably bad for the packing (what packing? ) but is it bad for the engine? Please say no because I love doing it!

Jeez, I get on that bike and I'm a complete hooligan.

Not sure about engine damage mate, but I do know you'll be doing your exhaust/can no favours (which you already know).
If you have a carbon can, then it may start falling apart or just explode lol.

Nah shouldnt do any damage. All you are doing is burning off excess fuel. The only bad thing its doing in my opinion is reducing your fuel economy. And who really cares about that...

I only get 90 to the tank in town anyway.

My god I got a good one the other day, right next to some pedestrians waiting to cross. You have to lurch it forward in third, about 25mph, and they all turned to look at the loud bike. As I went past

BANG!

I was laughing in my lid for ages!

It's good ain't it!

I can do the same... Although mine used to be REALLY bad when I first put my Renegade system on, partly due to it still being on standard fueling (and it being a straight through can) and also as there was LOTS of areas blowing where I hadn't sealed it properly - You'd get 'pop, pop, pop BANG' with it being 3 small blue flames, followed by a good footlong yellow flame! Amazing, but I knew that wasn't a good thing long term...

I took it to my nearest tuning place (Rhencullen) and they did a 'Yoshi' edit to the ECU to sort out the fuelling, and said that although it wasn't perfect (it could only do +/- 5% change on different areas without paying huge amounts, it was enough to bring it back in line so that there would be no damage being caused to the engine.

Since then, it still gets a few pops, but VERY rarely I occasionally get a big bang... always makes me chuckle!

Mine hardly ever pop and never BANGS.

If I rev high and then let the revs drop, it will let out a very little pop around 3/4krpm but thats its, and even those tiny little pops I'm convinced are due to it not having a 100% seal on one of the joints....I feel like i have been cheated

Used to be able to detonate mine to order..... had it remapped last week - it'll still give a decent pop (though not to the same car alarm/ window shattering extent) on the overun but it's now possible to shut it up when you need to. Also seems better at around 5.5k or so...

All in all a good thing really...

(Boring but effective Micron Full system)
