guess again...

new fairings are £430 a pair from the suzuki accessories dept

and like someone else said the exhaust is all one part, comes to about £800 apparently

no idea what a new tank costs but i'd say you're looking at £200+

brace yourself, the car driver probably isn't expecting a bill in the order of £1500

The tank I got quoted for was £410. They didn't swap it cause that pushed the price over the right off threshold.

Sorry to hear bout your mis-fortune though.

let ur insurance write it off, buy it back for ?500 and get the bits of ebay or get your quote of the main stealer and give that the the 4x4 driver then get the bits off ebay at a 1/3rd the price.

No, no, no! To be a true crashing hero you need to have done it to avoid damage to someone else not yourself.

Sorry to hear about your issue. Sounds like cut and dry case for his insurers to sort, though.

However, a couple of your recent posts make me wonder if you'd rather it was a write-off and you could perhaps get a cheque and buy a different bike with it?

Best of luck sorting it.

Cheers for the figures folks. I think

Never had a bike repaired on insurance before - so not quite sure how this all goes.

As an "Insurance job" I am expecting dealer to "slap it on" with the estimate, so going by these figures am looking at parts of around GBP1600, plus labour of around, say, GBP100 (?)...... Now given that this is a 2 month old Bike (not yet run in!) how come around GBP1700 will write it off?, any heads up on how the calculation is made?.......I hesitate to ask what write off figure I can expect......or even what the bike was worth this morning

But, if I could get the bike back dirt cheap (and a decent write off cheque) all that would be needed is a new Tank, the rest of it would be left / a bit of spit and polish. Do I get first dibs at the "wreck"? Who values it?...and can I just take the cash for the repairs and decide not to do them?

Last time I had a bike that got run over was me old FZR. That time I was riding it. and the car had to be driven off me - and the b#stard insurance company had refused to let me have any more fully comp a month before .....so I had to DIY a lot worse than this.....and with no insurance a remarkably different approach is taken!

Yeah, SV not a bad bike - and exactly what I wanted a couple of months ago (and probably a good move given that I had been on a Scooter for 7 years) - but £££ wise should have bought a s/h one.

i think beyond economical repair is anything above half its value, an insurance assessor will come and value the damage and expect labour to be a very silly sum of money.
