Default Noise Testing

Where can you take a bike to be noise tested?

Do everyday car or bike MOT stations have a noise testing facility?

Thanks

You could do a track day, they will tell you what db you are kicking out.
btw, my stubbied Fuel without baffle was tested at 99db at 5000rpm at Snetterton.
My mates GSXR 600 with a Micron inc baffle was tested at 97db at 7500rpm..

I know I could do a trackday to find out the db, but that defeats the point as I want to know before getting there, pointless booking to then be told sorry to loud and your not getting a refund.

To fit a baffle on my RS-5 you have to remove (unrivet) the carbon end cone, and theres no way I'm doing that, and to refit the standard exhaust after testing would mean missing 2 morning sessions at least, plus its damaged so dont want to swap it back.

Thats what I'm thinking, Most bikes MOT test places do the noise test 'by ear' lol

I have rung a couple of Car and bikes ones this morning to ask but they must be to busy to answer the phone

Donington Park is a flyby noise test not a hand held device so cant take it there, I have tried emailing mallory lol, they are my only local ones.

EDIT: I'm at cadwell park on the 9th/10th of August so can get it tested then, but its abit late for booking mallory on the 16th by then which is 98db limit

I have ordered a RS-5 for my bike too, but I'm waiting for the 17th August before I fit it. I don't know about Hondas but, from the Kwak forum, the RS-5 has made the bike a lot noisier, but not the extent that you won't be able to do track days.

Will let you know if I find anything concrete on this though.

From hearing it on Saturday, I'd say it's louder at the lower end of the rev range, do they always test at 5k rpm? That's probably the point where it's loudest isn't it?!

What bike is it for, I just sent back a carbon 2007/2008 CBR RS-5

Also where are you getting it from and how much :P

The noise is pretty damn nice, nicest sounding CBR exhaust I have heard (Biased I know).

Edit: Just noticed ZX6R

I think the krpm they test at depends on where your bike redlines, not sure though really, never has to worry about it before
