Got this reply by email from the organisers of the stormin the castle rally

"Thanks for letting me know that George. I'm seeing the owner on Friday,
will mention this but really it's none of my business what he does with
his site. However I and my colleagues have been there on our bikes several times and the security never mentioned about my being on a bike, even before I told him why I was there. Also I have seen other people there on bikes looking to buy caravans."

Glad i got a reply but still unhappy we were stopped from going to the witton castle cafe. I will try again and see whats said next time.

I once heard a similar story similar to this. A couple of bikers went into a pub, and were turned away as "no bikers served". They went home, and called the pub, asking to make a group booking for around 50 people.

A week later, they turned up in cars, with all family & friends in tow, got to the bar and ordered the full group's drinks. Once all 50 pints had been pulled, they said to the landlord "we understand you don't serve bikers, is that right?" He confirmed he wouldn't serve bikers, to which they replied "well we are bikers, I guess we had better leave", thus leaving a deserted pub with 50 drinks sat on the bar and a landlord with a large amount of food pre-ordered with no-one to eat it.

Surely there must be some descrimination laws that apply here? Replace the word "bikers" with "gays" or "lesbians" or "blacks" and you would rightly be outraged. SO why is it that a simple method of transport can out us in a minority that has no rights?

If this was near me i;d be getting in touch with the local trading standards and discussing it.
I agree that its a private business that can turn away who they like if they behave badly but you cant have a blanket ban in place for no reason can you?

Brings us back to the descrimination some of us face at petrol stations.

If it works anything like the licenced trade there is no protection from the law (or never used to be at any rate). A Licencee can refuse to serve anyone for any reason - or no reason at all come to that.

No - because they've made a (presumably) business decision and have informed people of their intentions.

There is far too much interference in the way that people are expected to run their businesses these days - if anyone wishes to refuse custom from a particular group then why shouldn't they - it's their loss of revenue after all.

I agree with Vox here, the state nannies far too much. If he doesnt want to serve bikers then thats his choice and I stand by that. I'd rather goto a place that wants my custom rather than it being forced too.

Having said that i think hes a ****** for not serving bikers and hope his business fails .

No not really. I know this sounds like a doble standard now but allow me to explain.

the cances are that a coach load of footy supporters have had a fair bit to drink, weather before or after a match. The chances of bikers haing done the same and riding their bikes is slim to nil for the most part.

I agree that it should be up to the business to decided indibvidually who to serve or not but to have a balmnet ban based on the form of transport a person chooses that day is just silly.

Its fine to ban people like that imho spiderman BUT equally its my right to think said owner is a complete jerk.

At the end of the say its his right to not serve you and its my right to insult him and keep my cash in my wallet.

The best thing you can do is spread the word of his idiotic views and get friends family n colleagues not to goto this place. He'll soon regret annoying a group of people for no reason, and revenge is always sweet .
