FFS manx, plan-o-man??

What took you so long!? Yeah, you know Im already packing my socks and nickers. £150 inc accomodation would be my VERY top end budget, might even mean I'd have to push the bike round a few laps to save on petrol money lol.

+1 to Fizz, would prefer B+B or even better you get rid of the folks for a weekend and we can bunk up in your house YEY free accom!

Yep ok well i am gonna have a break from thought, give DP a ring tonight and then i will make this abit more official.

Anyone who doesn't want to camp i have a criteria list for my campsites, that does include having either a hotel or b+b as near as poss. to the campsite for none campers but still so they can socialise with everyone else. But we will get into more details on everything in an official thread sooner rather than later.

The long/normal weekend length also has been planned and dicussed in length by me and DP to fit round people who cant get say a long weekend off or choose not to, and also gives people who would prefer a long weekend of it that they can do so.

Essentially abit like the Peaks where some people have come for the full thing, some for 1 night, some for just 1 rideout etc... etc... there will be plenty of flexibility explained and eventually confirmed.

Cheers for support everyone i will get to work on the proper info's and thread. Matt.

As advice, I'd look more towards the GM than the peaks rideout - you're likely to get similar volumes to that, and theres always the possibility that people might want to stay on and do the touristy thing after the rideout.

I briefly investigated the ferry yesterday when I saw this go up, and I've got a boring question... what's the difference between the two routes from England out there?

Yep i agree, with the comparison is nothing alike, i was not on GM myself and don't know how that one worked... what i meant was it will be compeltly flexible, basically what me and DP have planned you shall see when i post officially it does give a long weekend (not just sat-sun day) option where i will still be here. Tbh i won't go into any real detail till i make the official thread because i might confuse that subject futher.

The ferry all fun and games trust me i hate the steam racket , basically.... in answer to what i think you mean...

Heysham is near Preston you sail on a slower but comfier ferry takes about 3 and a half hours (DP's prefered choice to sail from as it's also easier to find).

Liverpool my preffered choice seen i only lived 20 minutes away... you sail generally on the fast craft here i.e. seacat style... only takes around 2 hours 20 minutes again rule of thumb on a bad crossing etc... harder to find prehaps? but basically you come off the m62 and follow all way through liverpool signs for albert dock then you'll suddenly be outside liver building and will see a clearly marked sign for seatcat and I.O.M. ferry.

I had a good check of that route signage yesterday and if you stick to that rule you would find it easily enough.

Both crossing also offer different sailings (times of day), but they both essentially land at the same point on the Isle of Man.

I'd imagine most people will, again DP and me have discussed this it would be like most rideouts from that point of view getting there in small groups generally together.... my responsibility would start when you get too the other side of the water i would arrange all that.

Liverpool port is easy enough to find, it's pretty well signed.

Heysham is just over 30 miles from Preston, it's much closer to Lancaster, round on the south side of Morecambe Bay.

that was my thinking as well
as i did the gm and saw the exellent orginiseing of that whole weekend
i dont think we will get those numbers but if close to it it would be mint

i hope northy and kg wont mind me saying this but because of GM one point i will make abuntantly clear

THIS IS A HOLIDAY not just a rideout trust me the plan of action is to have as much or as little milage as suits each individual and thankfully due to the nature of the IOM this unlike other areas makes this extremely easy

the premise from the plan o man is social as well as riding, hijinks and banter will be actively incouraged (bit like the ar)

i for one think that the meeting up with old mates from the org and making new ones is equilly as important as getting on some cracking roads (something tells me were sorted on that last point )

your all adults and have free will, so camp with the noisey lot if thats your thing , enjoy the luxury of a hotel or b&b , or find a quite spot to yourself and come and go as you please (we will offer every concivable option to make your life easyier)

pick and choose which rideouts you wish to do (there will be more than one) ,go off and discover the island for yourself (we will offer some advice if you ask), or spend all weekend in the bar, i dont mind this is your hard earned holiday time,

matt and me are just facilitators to your own weekend with one job try and give everyone a slice of what they want from a visit the the mecca that is the I.O.M

All sounds good so far. When I was there on the bike I didn't venture too much off the TT circuit. Well I did a bit, to explore the coast a bit and see some tourist stuff. But it will be good to have local knowledge about the roads etc. Hey we can pop in to my temp work and see if they are hiring again! lol

That was both the points I was trying to make covered. Because of the cost and the novelty, I wouldn't only spend Friday night, Saturday and roll back Sunday - it's almost a foreign holiday, but with less funny lingo.

The ferryport choice is a tricky one for me, as either are reasonably close. I just thought it was an interesting question, as not all ferries are equal... my first overseas trip was on the pride of hull, which is a floating hotel, while the departure from Harwich this year only had one bar and no casino (Obviously I'm extracting it a bit on that - those crossings were overnighters)
