Sorry, I meant assuming that the way we understand things currently to be 100% correct 100% of the time.

We are constantly learning and discovering new things.

So essentially, I meant trying to say that ghosts don't exist because science hasn't proved them yet, is naive.

ah i get it now. But is it also naive to say that ghosts don't exist because of the complete lack of hard evidence?

I mean you can scientifically prove a tree exists, but scientifically understanding a tree is a lot harder.

I would never have found my silver if the old lady hadn't pointed it out to me.

But that is not independently verifiable, or reproducible, therefore worthless under a scientific investigation.

and Ed, having witnessed what you claim, and you're not even convinced, it's not exactly a weighty argument, is it?

Yes. I have seen/expirenced a few things that could not be rationaly explained other than it being a ghost or a presence of some kind.

Does it need to be reproducible to be true? The Titanic only sank once, and the Lindenburg only crashed once...

My Grandma can't die again to reproduce what happened on that day. I know its true, and so does the guy I was working with who heard me blurt out, "Grandma has died."

I still hold a huge amount of scepticism for an awful lot of the stories I've heard/read but I can't discount them.

Well lets have some details. I do find it a bit of a leap of faith though, to immediately assume that something that can't be rationally explained must be a ghost. Also events for which there is no obvious rational explanation, does not necessarily mean that there isn't some unknown but rational reason for them occurring.

Not read the whole thread, no time today, but i do believe. Very much so since i have "met" a ghost and spoken at him/her but never seen him/her.
Wont bore you all with the details but it was quite odd cos as a kid i'd always been convinced that if i encountered a ghosty i'd die of fright right on the spot.

those who dont believe have simply never been in the right place at the right to to have their preconceptions challenged enough and i was the same till i had my experiences tbh.

We have such things as Egyptian pyramids or Myan temples, Olmec heads that we cannot decifer the text on......they were put there by people long ago, or something.

There still isn't a proven theory to how they did it, scientifically they did have the grasp of trigonometry, geometry, astronomy, mathematics.....but there is no cold hard fact to how they did it. We haven't a clue, only guess work, but FACT they are there.

So was jesus a spaceman and did his mates build the pyramids really.
