If its any consolation I thought my SV was mahhhhhhooosive when I first got it. Now everyone that looks at it says 'Isn't it big?' I'm so used to it, I think its tiny now. Still heavy though for weak and feeble me, but then they all are when they fall on top of you

Dont worry about moving onto such a bigger bike - I went from a pugeot speedfight 100 to a restricted SV. You'll be fine, since you've got eperince on a real motorcycle just take it easy until your used to it. A restricted SV is a pussy-cat to ride, but its a fun pussy-cat! Concentrate on learning cornering, and dont bother revving it about 7500 rpm because the power tails off rapidly. You're gonna be fine...I was worried too, but it turned out alright. A restricted SV is still good for 90 mph cruising with luggage and pillion all day. Plan yur overtaking carefully - some people compain restricted bikes are unsafe because you ant overtake easily, but you just need to plan ahead

No worries, best piece of advice I was given with regard to buying a motor vehicle was to make sure I looked at plenty and not to buy the first one I looked at.

hi again guys ...

I have 4500 pounds coming in the next few weeks

900-1000 of that is for insurance ..... i have had some quoats and thats around the figure im getting as i have a claim for Total Loss by theft as my XRX was stolen a few months back and i also have 3 points for Speeding ....

150-200 pound on some Decent Locks/Chains/Ect...

so that leaves around 3300 for a SV650 but i also need it resticting in with the price do you think most dealers will do this for free to get a sale ??

so

1000 on insurance
3300 on SV650
and 200 on Locks/Chains

Thanks Guys !

hindle8907, you will have got alot more than most for your 1st bike with +£3K.
Did my test Fe'09 4 days & in for the test, we are on a restricted SVS, like the org says, take it easy & learn at a reasonable pace, slowly slowly catche monkey.

Think that you can easy pick up a good bike from 2001 onwards & not have to spend all your loot. God forbid that you drop it while learning, better to drop a £1700 bike & have money for repairs than a £3K bike & be off the road.
We all want shiny & new, but you can get shiny & nearly new also.
I would say go for something lower in the price range & get yourself loads of fuel to learn with, also you have not left anything for riding gear, need to get good jacket, trousers, boots etc., always buy the best you can, road rash can be painful at any speed let alone the speeds you can achieve with the SV.

Good luck & stay safe.
