OK, the one I've used (both times) is the FH008EB, I think. Worth mentioning that the bolt holes are in the perfect place and though it's physically larger than the SV one, it still fits under the plastic of the curvy SV. You need to chop the plugs and rewire it one way or another, I just soldered on the plugs from an old SV reg/rec- though that thread does seem to suggest that it's better to remove the plugs as a point of failure... I'll be honest, never occurred to me but I'd sooner have the simple removal options myself I think. But I'm no spark, that's for sure!
I've used some of those plugs previously, I think, Frosts sell something very similiar, fully waterproof etc. But not on the SV... Almost none of hte stock SV plugs have any weatherproofing after all. But it certainly can't hurt, and they're good kit as far as I can tell.

I put a Yamaha MOSFET in as my 3rd replacement (2 OEMs before) but hoped they'd last forever

Ive had a bit of experience with failing regs/rects so heres my thinking for what its worth:
They operate with 3 phases so usually only one phase fails allowing an AC component in the battery charging current and as batteries apparently dont like this they promptly fail. Often the owner replaces the reg/rect but as the battery is knackered it doesnt hold its charge very well and when it goes flat the bike is bump or jump started. Now I believe this is a complete no-no because the reg/rect than has to supply charging current to a flat battery (often with the bike stationary and without a cooling air flow) so risking damaging it and starting the vicious circle again. Sometimes the battery is replaced but if charged with a dodgy reg/rect this circle will continue uninterrupted! I think the answer is to confirm that the reg/rect has failed (not always easy), change it and if the battery still discharges replace it directly before trying to start the bike. Also running temperature of the reg/rect seems very important so if it can be replaced with one of a larger capacity and/or bigger cooling fins or relocated to a cooler area all the better. |

Oh, I meant to add, I love my Yuasa YTZ-12S, god knows how many times it's been flattened completely- a good few dozen- but it still keeps coming back to life, and seems as good as it was when I got it 4 years ago. Good kit.

Funny, I've had 2 Suzukis & 2 Hondas, but the only bikes I've had to replace the Reg/Rec on were the honda! :P

What year and bike does this come from?
I've searched parts fish on web and found different R/R's for CBR600RR's throughout the years. Also their part numbers are something like: SKU: 31600-MFJ-D01 RECTIFIER ASSY., REGULATE (Honda Code 8593790) Is this different than PN? I'd like to buy the correct part and not an over large item which I'd have trouble fitting. Can you help me out a bit Northy? Thanks mate. Is this ok for instance? http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/HONDA...11410006r15042 Last edited by zunkus; 13-10-09 at 06:19 PM. |

That one looks like the one I fitted to my curvy a couple of years ago.Its been fine sinse. You just need to splice the output wires together because there are too many of them.It bolts straight on to the same mountings if you remove that backing plate.
