No, but they would if the engine electrics worked and you got it started - BA-DUM TSH...
Where to start, it looks like a chinese man with two drinking straws stuck up his nose for one ![]() Then you have 17" wheels, downpipe under the engine, the designers must've got confused and thought "off-road" was mounting the kerb outside starbucks ![]() But then, that's not what it's about - it's a touring bike, but touring bikes aren't the transport du jour right now so we'll dress it up like an adventure bike and sell milllions ![]() MWA HA HA HA HA HAAAA ![]() ![]()

I always thought that touring bikes were supposed to be reliable so they wouldnt leave you stranded in the middle of nowhere and capable of doing 1000's of miles..
I didnt think either of these were Ducatti's top 2 on the build requirements. If I were looking for a tourer or long distance bike, I wouldnt want to be saddled with the high ducatti service and parts costs. Yes, it looks better than the old one, but is it really the bike for the market that its aimed at? |

Its about time people stopped thinking of these as big traillies or whatever with 'offroad' attached somewhere to them. But big upright bikes are lovely to ride, I think, fantastic for distance (as long as the screen works). Some of them will cope with a bit of offroad (like V-strom for example). Ones like this and Ullysees I am sure would be fine on gravel ROADS.
I would rather have one of these than a Tiger, but I wouldn't want a Tiger. Lovely bike for touring around Europe, Alps etc I expect. |

Will get tested against Tiger/KTM SMT and GS.
That beak will take a bit of getting used to. And what is with Ducati using as many screws as possible to attach bodywork? ![]() Thin and flimsy plastics to get the weight down for the spec sheet/marketing folk? (Who pluck numbers out of thin air anyway!) See Honda/Suzuki/Yamaha are getting it right. ie New VFR/Busa/R1. |

I think Ducati is changing it's ways. Somewhat. I mean, look at the ST's. They were reliable (or so I've heard from a number of sources), unlike the bikes Ducati was building back then. They were good for touring and contested vfr's spot on the market. Perhaps not the best in the marketing department, but that's another story.
So, I think they've proven that they can build bikes for which you don't require a mate riding behind you just to pick up parts that fall of your bike.. It remains to be seen if whether it's the case with this one. Maybe they'll just build another "great engine, too bad it's got no electrics to start it" kind of bike, but maybe they won't. (I think I'm starting to sound like a ducati employee by now.. I just like the bike / concept of it) I agree it's not for taking offroad, but for taking it on gravel ROADS (as said above) and also agree it might just be great for taking it across Europe.. IF it doesn't break down |

In a recent survey the Ducati 1098 got 5/5 stars for reliability. I was amazed so looked to see which other bikes scored a 5/5. There were just 4 in total!!!
That said they then did a top 10 most reliable motorbike and the 1098 didn't appear in that. Weird.
