I've always wanted one but know it would be just not be practable for every day riding. If I could afford a 'Sunday' bike I would probably buy one. I thought the jump the camera person did both times when the exhaust popped on the over run was a little funny.

A couple of mates who have had SP1s loved them as road bikes, although one was a bit of a mechanical lemon (possibly as a result of the previous owner) and required selling on. Mind their local roads are the Yorkshire Dales and moors, no town riding/commuting etc, just for fun bikes.

Passed a 'large' guy on one on the M6 yesterday. He looked very comfortable (although he was carrying a LOT of padding), had his rucksack on and was tootling along on his daily commute.

Once my SV is back on the road, I'll give him a run for his money lol

Chain.

Leaking Fuel Tank.

Radiator Mounts needed fixing.

Other mechanical odd and sods, stuff I can't remember. Basically I think it was down to the previous owner.

Hmmm, Well I guess those arnt good but I thought you meant motor. Suppose it depends on the person but id have fixed it. Ah well.

Just looked at prices for a laugh. Dont think ill bother. Can get a RSVR Factory for less... I dare say the RSVR would be the better bike as well. Shame.

Cheers Mark.
When I was commuting to central london, I saw a chap everyday on an SP2 commuting the other way. There used to be a mature student in my first year of chemistry who used his SP2 to commute aswell

Natrally though, I wouldnt want it for commuting. 90 miles between fillups is silly! But gear driven cams, that lovely sound, all that racing pedigree...

looks good too

Greek...yea, RSVR's do seem the cheaper option, not sure on their reliablity but aprilia's seem pretty bulletproof

Yea, the engines are Rotax, who for the most part make plane engines, so obviously they know how to make them reliable.

(dragging up an old thread now)

True, very true. I've been over on the performance bikes magazine forum, there is a big following of SP1 and SP2's there, and also RSV's...some really lovely examples. Actually, I was gonna ask you about something...that fault you have with your falco, the oil light coming on, what was the actual problem and how did yu sort it? A chap on that forum has been suffering a similar issue with his RSV

WOW. That's a really gorgeous sound. If only Honda would revisit the SP-2 with better fuel economy and tank range! Didn't know they had gear driven cams. What a great idea they are- why don't bikes have these any more?! (this is from someone having come through a CCT change and considering a Firestorm in the future!).
