Not sure what you are saying.... He was asking for stock settings so assuming he's working on stock or fairly stock bikes. If it has rebound and compression settings they should be set to 0 after setting preload and they will both be happy somewhere, more or less around 1/2 of their adjustment ...for most. Again we're talking about springs that have 10,000 or more miles on them. And quite a few will as few riders start fiddling with the suspension till they've had the bike a while. However...if someone has greatly altered the stock (or recommended for aftermarket) spacer length, moved the fork position (up or down) inside the yokes, changed or altered the shim stack inside the forks, or changed sping rates (except to a recomended progressive rate spring).. You will need to set sag levels on both ends of the bike to get anywhere close. And remember that too is just a starting point. Not to mention some springs will never be right for a particular rider so all the adjusting in the world won't do, you'll have to experiment with a different spring rates. Having a correctly set up bike will make a huge difference in the way your bike handles. However....spending loads of money on suspension mod'ing can be over the top for most streetbike riders. Most would be better off spending the money on something like Keith Code's Calf. Superbike School providing they already have a decently suspended and properly set up bike. Just curious YC ...where's the preload on your forks set? ![]()

I would be more inclined to say it was either the rear preload is way to soft or your rear rebound is too slow. This would cause the bike to remain squat as you apply the throttle, give less traction to the front tyre and be difficult to hold a nice line whilst accelerating round the long corners (wants to drift wide). Your rear compression might also want a couple of clicks in to stiffin it up. Hard to say but from your description of turning then no turning I'd start there.

The rear seems too "hard" to me (i know nothing tho) when i got it it was setup for a pillion i've kept the "pillion or firm" settings for the preload as this gives about 35mm of sag. I've then backed off the front and rear compression and rebound to "stanard" settings (4 clicks from out, firm was 6) this has made the bike less twitchy (it was a little too twitchy for me on the commute)
now if im "on it" when im riding then its great but if it gets unsettled then it feels it much more than the sv. Also it sometimes feels like its going to slide (but never does) strange hey? Maybe its just me? |

The rear feels like it's going to slide or the front?

I've posted this before for the T5's
http://forums.sv650.org/showpost.php...8&postcount=22 I have two lots a WP settings and some weight ones as well, and somewhere tt600 & S4 settings, but they are on another PC which needs fixing at some point, so have to wait a bit. got some for an SP1 as well, but again have to dig them out, I've about 300 manuals, so if you need anything specific give me a shout, I maybe able to help. Cheers Mark.
