After posting on this thread yesterday I got woken at 6am by the better half this morning as the bike alarm was going off. It stared to go in cycles. Alarm goes off - I push the off button on the fob - It resets to on again - Wait 2 minutes - Alarm goes off. I go out to try and start the bike but the battery just turns it over very slowly. So with the other half on fob control I shoot into work to see what I need to do today. Not too much so home I come to do some work.
Tooled up, I decide that I need the battery out and will remove the alarm as per my own advice earlier in this thread. Into service mode, take off the seats and cut the cable ties holding the alarm and wrap the unit is a cloth. Problem 1, can't find the alarm fuse. OK. Go to unplug the unit. Problem 2 The alarm seems to have no central plug and looks like it has been asimilated into the bike wiring by the borg. Ok. Lets take the internal plug out I think. Problem 3, the alarm case has those security hex bolts that I do not have a set of keys for. Sod it I think (the car said it was -12.5 degrees) I disconect the bike battery and remove it. The alarm is still bleeping at the normal 15 second intervals as it does in service mode so I push the alarm fob and all is quiet. The alarm is off and I guess the interal battery is too cold to be bothered to do anything. I will wait and see if this has caused me a problem when I reinstall the battery but not bothered as it is too cold to worry about it. |

Just checked the battery date and it is the original battery I think (2002). The cold has killed the battery and confused the alarm. The battery was showing 11.84v

I needed to put in a perminant accumate lead anyway so the job is now half done. I was going to do it when I did a service on the bike which will be done when the weather gets a little warmer. I would leave well alone too!
