Dave

Maybe worth having a look at Barwel's rebuild thread

That's completely do-able. All you'd need is the generic hall effect sensor on the 650 for speedo same as any other, it's <£30 for the setup and I can do you one so it will literally plug in and work. Bit different depending if it is >K4 or K5> (4 or 8 magnets on disc) but piece of p*ss.

Thou is easier. Just buy complete GSXR front end that is K1 or newer (not sure about K8 and later) and bolt it on.

next question can you anodise both "tubes" on the forks or would this effect the working of them in anyway
also bottom yoke

What you mean? Inner and outer?

Outer of USD maybe, it is turned so might be OK, casting of a right way up fork is poor, castable alloys do not tend to anodise well. Lots of micro porous crap there... ano will transfer fingerprints into finish so it picks up all that stuff. Same with bottom yokes.
That same micro porous crap tends to hold powder coating really well though

For stanchion (shiny bit) you can get couple of coatings to reduce stiction. Old GSXR had pink or something, they were crap, 2001 had gold, they were OK not brilliant, 2008 or something has black coating and are OK.
Aftermarket coatings are supposedly excellent to reduce stiction but it is tiny difference and if you got to ask you can't afford it.

Those are anodized from factory and pain to redo since you need to strip them first. I did set of gold to black anodize.

the prilla forks i have are good but not a straight swap as the head tube is like 30mm so you have to have a sleeve welded in and then the sv stem pressed in

mine were £450 inc wheel disc's and brakes, yokes and forks inc risers and drilled yoke

so stuf is out there to be had if you look hard enough
