Not so, can be a large proportion of ethanol (which will work to some extent but won't be as good at dissolving the water in fuel) and can contain a good chunk of water and other stuff. So don't, use meths if you must but really IPA is the right stuff.
Carb icing didn't used to be such a problem on aircooled bikes once they got over the initial hump as you have a good supply of warm air off the engine to vaporise the fuel in the carbs. Watercooled bikes don't have such a benefit so they need some sort of additional heat source. If you think the SV ones are crap then try the SRAD heated plate thing that goes between the carbs and intakes, it basically doesn't work if it's cold and wet at the same time! |
