Presumably manufacturing tolerances. Personally I have always put red spots to valve as per tyre fitters instructions. Just stating what I was told by a racer who is not prone to talking crap

or just pour in dynabeads. job jobbed. been using them for the past year and half with no problems and no ugly weights stuck to the rims.
call it hocus pocus if you like but in my view they work. |

As Sid said, manufacturing tolerances would have a rim out by a couple of grams at most, you'd need a hell of a good balancer or balancing rig to even detect it. I'm afraid in this instance, your racer friend is indeed talking crap.

i change a lot of tyres myself, all year round on road and track. I say the front is the important one to do as at higher speeds it will make itself known, its not going to put you in any danger as such (especially if its only 10-20gs or so) its just slightly vibey. I balance every tyre i fit on the race bike but on road wheels i tend to just do the front and leave the rear
