Could that be the problem ? And how could I test that ? Is it possiable to bypass it for a few days to see if it makes any difference? I know that may sound silly but need to get to the bottom of the problem ASAP.

The other one is under the pillion seat inside the cubby box, at the rear on the nearside (rider's left hand side as you sit on the bike). The wiring harness curves round a frame bracket and can wear through.
Remember to check behind both rider's seat bolts too.
