Well, I almost gave up at the first hurdle

Popped into a Suzi dealership in Didcot after work, asked about buying a new SV650S. Pretty much told that the screen price is THE price. Have one K5. Would fit an imobiliser tho (whoopee). No we don't have demo's, and we aren't likely to have a demo. Here's a brochure. And, erm, that was it She was straight onto the next customer, ta ta. Didn't have a chance to tell her about the deposit I wanted to put down, that I wanted to be on the road in a couple of weeks, that I didn't have a PX, nothing Was pretty gobsmacked and didn't really sink in until I was driving home. Buyers market??? Must be shifting alot of stock in Didcot if they only take every second customer seriously Really don't understand...

Might drop them a line just to confirm that they really don't want to sell me a bike

Anyway, in a fit of desperation I phoned a Swindon dealer once I got home. Gone 5 oclock on a Friday (not much hope then), but could not have been more different. A gaggle of pre-reg K4 models and K5's no problemo. Big discounts, and that was without asking Also phoned back with reasonable APR terms for the remainder of the balance.
Only problem is no test ride available as I haven't had my licence more than 12 months. Still - restored my faith in capitalism
Need to get a test ride sorted, but at least I now know that the buyer is king!!

Have a good weekend all

Piglet....I am getting a little p+ssed off over here in sunshine land also! The main Aprilia dealer is absolutely crap, nothing to do with them apparently having no understanding of English as my Spanish is not too bad,(except for the odd technical word that you use once in 3 life times!) i have been getting the run around as the guy who gave me a "guesstimate" on trade in value for my bike against an RSVR is no longer around! The next moron to step up to the plate told me he had to run it by the second hand dealer they farm the trade ins to. No phone call today as promised and no information when I finally caught him.
they are crap! I do not really want to do business with them, I am fortunate that I could at a push, slap the full wedge on the table to pay for the mother, but if I were to do that they would have to really come up with some goodies!
I can get a brand new 2004 model(which I do actually prefer the look of and save a good 3000euros and this has some appeal...after all my SV was the last years model out of choice.) from a dealer in Valencia! They pack it up and send it down to me.Or a 2004 Ducati 999 with race system again with a juicey saving!
Then again my man sharpy has been really marking my card and has kindly given me much to contemplate.
That is what is EXCELLENT about this forum...the peeps on it!

Default Part Ex

I'm wanting a brand new black K5 SV650S and the dealer near me has offered on the road price of £4599 and £1800 part ex on my four year old 'Y' reg CB500S with 15,000 miles which has been through 4 winters and is bubbling rust in some places.

Does this sound reasonable

Aha! The Swindon bods are G White also - they obviously aren't afraid to discount

£1800 and full screen price sounds tight to me. Plenty of dealers ready to bite your hand off out there (and some who aren't interested in selling)

Am actually Newbury as well - said "Reading area" as I thought no-one would know where Newbury is!
According to April's Ride Magazine there were 1751 new sv's sold in 2004.

(number 7 in their UK Top 10 New Bikes)

It sounds like their being really tight. You should be able to do a lot better than this. Maybe you should get a copy of MCN and ring round some dealers to compare prices.
