Sounds like there may have been a 'flappy' moment involved.

The powervalve on the RS125 opns fo self cleaning befoe about 2krpm, and makes it bog down there, so my gues he bogged down, revved the bejesus out of it then lost control with ham fisted clutching

Having had it happen to me on the CBR Id still say mechanical though its only happened on the old CBRs. Doubt a newish RS should have the same problems but there is a mechanical reason for a bike behaving like that. And Id really really like to know what it is other than just attributing it to overheating.

And I assure you I wasnt trying to wheely it or over-revving it to clear it - in Cannon Street traffic theres absolutely no way Id be messing about. It was a fight to control it and stop it hitting things when it was pulling on idle with the clutch in.

Anyone who doubts is most welcome to come do some town riding on it and tell me wtf is going on in that engine...
