Not if you treat them like a debit card and have the money already sitting in the bank account for paying all of it off at the end of the month. Just need a bit of self control that's all.

Not worth it. Not worth all the debt, the worry, the hassle. There will be more on ebay, wait till you're a bit better off.

So use a Debit Card.

The only 'good' thing they can do is sit in a drawer somewhere, untouched and alone, until something happens like your boiler blows up, or your car dies etc. Emergencies. That's it.
Everything else, well, if you have the money, use the money if you don't, you can't afford it.

dont bother getting them. if you really what some ask about and see if anyone has done like kwak zzr and taken a set of lowers off and see if you can buy them. 250 quid for a bit of plastic is extortionate and its not going to make your bike run any better. for that price you couold get new rubber all round and a nice loud 2nd hand can and have beer/petrol money left over.

and credit cards are not worth having period. they are designed by banks as a way to make money out of you which is not good.

We'll never resolve the "Lowers look good/bad" debate, I think a bike (especially the pointy) looks weird without lowers but each to their own. I love mine.

As for finances, lowers are a cosmetic thing, don't borrow for that. Borrowing to get on the road is fair enough, but to make it look better...

Not true. I use a credit card the way Law describes up there, I pay it off every month. Why not use a debit card? Because I like to keep my bank account number secret, and IF I'm defrauded then it's the credit card company's money and not my own. So I exclusively use my credit card for internet purchases, and only buy things with my debit card if I'm 100% confident about the security/seller. Makes sense to me anyway.

I'm amazed at how sensible everyone is! I guess thats that then, see how much money I have after OT and stuff. It does make sense and it would be more fun to sort out the forks

Credit cards are fine as long as you pay them off at the end of the month.....glorified debit cards perhaps..but apart from the advantages already mentioned you can get a % cashback or vouchers etc, so can make a little

Being a student my debit card limit is a miserly £300 so rather than spreading over a wad of cards a credit card is the answer....as long as you pay it off...
