Have you checked the front sprocket nut is not coming loose? As for the clutch do a search here for clutch adjustment and do all that it says.

If you wanna have a look, the clutch cover is only a rubber oring
Which relies on knowing what it is I'm looking at.

could you of worn your clutch out?
or maybe clutch springs gone?
Don't think so, unless clutches wear out overnight It was all working Thursday, apart for a clunking noise. Between it working and not working I messed about with the chain and cleaned cr*p out around the clutch adjustment thingy. so I'm thinking it must be related to the clutch adjustment somehow.

Haven't but will in the morning. The haynes manual isn't as good as the "Anna Method", I'll make sure this is done properly in the morning.

Thanks for the help, I'll let you know how I get on.

Its not gone too well. Sprocket checked and tight. Clutch cable adjustment performed. No change, clutch engaged and operation of lever does not dis-engage.

Lever pulled left, lever not pulled right.
Does this look ok? If so any thoughts as to what else to check/fix/adjust?

Is it rotating enough? Is it moving the push rod far enough or is the problem at the other end of the push rod?

Is it possible, bouncy chain (see earlier) has bent the push rod? ergo its not pushing enough?

All working again, thanks to Davepreston

Rear axle greased, bearings checked and assembled right way round, chain tension adjusted correctly, idle speed adjusted and thats before we got to the clutch.

Clutch adjusted properly and then he even adjusted the handlebar lever positions for me

All for the price of cups of tea and choccy biccies. Chears mate your a star.

And thanks to YC for the advice.
