I don't follow when I hear how alarms drain batteries. Surely its been installed incorrectly? I left my bike for six weeks and it still started moment I thumbed starter, although alarm system goes into hibernation after few weeks I think. My battery is not new either.

Can you not turn the alarm off? Mine was fitted by the dealer and needs to be left for well over two months with out running, before the battery is so flat that it cannot turn over the engine. Mine can be turned onto Immobilised only mode and this prevents the alarm drawing power from the battery. The fob has two buttons and they must both be held down for ten seconds while the ignition is on and this disables the alarm function. It can then be turned off and left.

It seems strange that the alarm you had was drawing so much current that it killed the battery, does it have an internal battery that needs changing?
