Internal or external?

All I've got is the compressor and horn

The Ebay one (GSXR?) was just the horn and went for about £4 less than a new one including a bolt and external relay. You should use a relay as the Stebel takes 18A vs about 4A standard going from the datasheet.
Just waiting for a Stebel look-a-like (Wolo) to arrive and planning to mount it on left hand Engine mount pinch bolt (Pointy) as I don't want to split it. Looks like some rubber anti-vibration mounts needed from what YC says. I have heard that they don't take well to vibration but will give it a go as nowhere much else to put it as a complete unit.

The look-a-likes are £30 the genuine ones are £60

Yep, be interesting to see how long the look-a-like lasts as the genuine ones don't have a great rep for long life (and I don't even need the relay for my £29, ).
Could well be the way it's mounted and vibration etc.

VWP is the devil, spend 30p here and there and the next minute it's £100!!!

The horn should be fine wherever if supported or on some sort of anti vibration mount. Andrew AFAIK any relays are external, the horns simply have a compressor motor with +ve and -ve terminals, mount relay wherever suits.

Just a thought, Chris:
Is there a frame tube that could be pressurised & then use that to blow the horn?
Eliminate electrics altogether.

Interesting idea but you'd still need a switch and solenoid... Unless you want a 1/4 turn ball valve on the handlebar!
