Whilst there are a lot of people who obsess over oil, and seem paranoid about what's right, the above is not at all true.

There are very specific oils for certain circumstances, maybe one doesn't need to be quite as fussy as some would suggest, but be assured they are NOT all the same, and there most definitely ARE the wrong ones.

The bottom line is obviously that some is better than none, even if it isn't the ideal one.

Btw... it's 'peddle' unless she was attempting to sell it off the back of a bicycle.

So a pure petroleum "oil" stock would be better lubricant than one with VI's, buffers, emulsifiers, detergents?

I only did a bit of tribology as part of my engineering qualifications but I think she either dumbed down explanations for you a lot or was not in any sort of technical sales.

No she never really went into detail, but as was the OP's question, no it don't matter that you put car oil in it, it will be fine your engine will not explode coz you didn't use £500 a bottle superlube!

And FFS you lot would die of shock if you saw some of the crap I pull to keep vehicles on the road, read what you like, get told what you like, but experience is everything, any oil is fine!

Nothing to do with the oil, just lack of time, engine rebuild this winter, been too busy last couple of years to do much maintenance, what with deployments, ceremonial duties and a move back here from Germany and other such time munching activities.

But 'tis still working!
