@wideboy Prices must have come down a far whack on that tech in recent years. I'll look into it if I get back into it mate.

@Tactcom - Those cars weigh a good 3-4 kilos. She would've felt that!!!

These are the ones I was talking about (link was a quick search so probably not the cheapest). I have taken the casing off them and off AR500 to save weight for indoor planes and the internal are identical layout and components so I'm guessing they are the AR500's rebranded as spectrum/JR discontinued them just before these turned up on the market. A lot of people don't rate them on big planes as you tend to get what you pay for with cheap model stuff but I've put one in my glider and you can take that on the thermals until its a dot so the range is good. Not bad considering the AR500 was about 35-40 quid. I only use them in epp and hack models that I don't care about just incase

Sorry if the link doesn't work, I'm on my phone so everything is in mobile format

I have a couple of those and for the money they're great. I have one in my 100mph bearcat fun fighter and a couple of my foamy edf's. I have had zero issues with them.

They're a good price. I'm willing to risk a cheaper receiver on a cheaper model. It's just the TX I'd need which would cost a bit of cash I'm guessing. I remember my RC car Spektrum costing a fair bit at the time.

i had a spektrum dx7 which was a fantastic transmitter, bought it just before the credit crunch for £180 with servo's ect. Now have a jr 9X which cost silly money, i have to admit it has more crap on it i need and i didn't need it as the dx7 was ample enough, but thats the way the cookie grumbles in this hobby

do you actually do combat?

i and friends have gremlins made of box section drain pipe and 40 size motors, meant for streamer cutting but it was boring so now its full contact. but alas the fun police put a stop to it at one site after deliberately mid airing head on was deemed unsafe
