Hi Wildkid, I remember posting the same thing when I got my sv last year, I had the d220's on and didnt really like them but I had new rider syndrome aswell.
Once I got used to the bike I actually found the d220's ok, its true they dont heat up that quick but I used them in all weathers for commuting, back lane fun and they were ok, not amazing but ok. I think my tyres ending up doing 12500 miles with loads on the front still before I replaced them and that was because the rear was as sqaure as a lego block - now thats when the d220's were rubbish, but imagine any tyre would be the same. As has been mentioned before, depending on your riding style and what you actually want from the tyre is a personal thing, but for me everyday riding they were perfectly adequadate and last ages, so I would be inclined to keep them until they have to be replaced but only if you feel safe and comfortable on them. Just in case you are interested, I replaced them with Michi pilot 1's for £145 from MandP and they are amazing, so much grip in all weather with no apparant heat up issues in the wet, I've done 2500 miles on them and they have shown no sign of any wear yet, or the dreaded squaring off (damn commuting). They are for me very confidence inspiring. Hope this helps, Gav. |

I took min of after a few months of riding and replaced with Metzler z6's. I didn't really get on with them and once the rear was warn out, I replaced with Michelin Pilot 2CT's and this is what I still run as I love them.
I still have the Metzler front and both the D220's in the cellar in case of a puncture but I hope to never have to use them! I say bite the bullet and replace them, you won't regret it. Regards |

I use the one's on track, they are probably a little extreme for the road unless you are nutter!

The ones are by far the best track tyre I have used, luckily my track bike doesn't get used on the road so I don't need to worry to much about wear rates or changing tyres!

I think most of my riding this year will be on track to be honest. Still to decide on which Michelins to go for too, but the Ones are definitely one to choose from for me.
