SV has seen 135, revs were high and don't like putting too much pressure in 6th, its my work bike. Thats plenty.

Corsa (1.4 16v) saw 124mph @ about 6450rpm on the speedo, working out the difference it was 114.5mph and i know my rev limiter and gearbox only allows 117mph @ 6620rpm, so the % worked out to be right..

Now it just about sees a real 140mph..... The turbo, well, Calibra is 151mph book, and i've seen a tuned Corsa doing a real (Stack dash calibrated) 174mph, but in a Corsa, sod that!!!!!!! I'd rather get to 100 damn quick and have a 120mph top end than a silly high speed.

The Astra has seen 160 with it still pulling (152mph book speed), but my pants started to get a slight stain and i backed off.

All speeds undertaken on a private runway.

Same here! (148mph seen on the clock)
It just seems to come down to getting your body into the air stream as much as possible for those last few mph, elbows in and all :P

Not sure that I see the fascination with Top Speed.
Any Euro Hatch can 'storm down' the Motorway at 130+ MPH
Not sure what that actually proves.
Its how a vehicle accelerates, handles and rides that is the most important factor imo.

I`m with you there Steve H, if i wanted top end would of gone R6/R1 but i want my arm sockets straining n my eyeballs in the back of my head off of the lights,it`s just nice to know the limitations of the bike and maybe yourself

Presuming your bike could overcome the air resistance, this is the theoretical top speeds of the Faired SVS (left) and the Nekked SV (Right) on their standard gearing.

In reality you will probably not be able to achieve that, especially on the Nekked. I don't know how many RPM you loose in clutch slip or the amount of tyre 'ballooning' at them sort of speeds either?

Anyhow some with the above two factors not accounted for (they may even cancel each other out?!!?), here are some facts and figures to add to the pot
