Yep what a waste of money, add that to what you paid for your bike and I bet you could by yourself something else that will put out more than that as standard.

wow thats alot of cash, should be quite a fun experience for you, you must have a passion for the SV.

do seriously consider the option of another bike tho, £3200 + the value of your SV will get you quite a serious bike, which is already proven and tested with high reliability, going for those mods could reduce the life and reliabilty of your bike.

im not trying to talk you out of it, just placing some options for you, personally i would like to see you do the mods, and if i had cash to burn, i would do the same.

good luck, pm me if and when you go ahead to let me know how it goes

I reckon for road use, a decent map is just as good as a power commander, since that's all it does pretty much.

Someone correct me if I'm wrong.

A waste of money? maybe, but i never plan on selling my SV and im not prepared to pay 2500 a year for insurance on say a gixxer 600/750 third party fire and theft, when the time comes to change road bike my Sv will be my racer and track bike so there is more to it than just wanting a faster bike, i litrally sold my soul and everything i owned when i was broke for my SV im not the sort that swaps and sells this is MY bike if you know what i mean?

Yep!

We've spent stupid money on our SV over the years, and never plan to have anything else.

I'm surprised you find it gut-less two-up though. Pete and I combined are around 20 stone, and we've still had 140 showing on the clock(on a private road of course), we can still beat our mate on his Gixer 750 away from the lights, and can happily cruise at 120 all day long.

I would recommend uprating your rear shock if you are doing a lot of two-up riding, and also sort your forks out if you haven't already. Get the handling sorted before you start even thinking of anything else..............what's the point of going quicker if it handles like a bag of sh*t?

I do know what you mean, I just think your wasting your time. Even with that extra BHP your still going to be limited by the standard front end, rear shock and brakes.

Also your going to need to tell your insurance company about all those mods to your SV, which is going to put your insurance up. Have you checked that out yet ?

OK I'm assuming as you have got a price for a power commander, then you've got a pointy.. tidyish K3's on Autotrader for around the £2750 mark.. add your proposed £3200 to that gives you £5950. My other half bought before Christmas a Duke 749S on an 04 plate. 110Bhp, decent suspension, decent brakes. All as standard. Yes the insurance is more, but look at what she's ended up with. She paid £5699 for it.

If you want a track bike, again why not just buy one that somebody else has done the hard work on. A guy I work with bought a CBR6 for a track bike for £750 mark, when hes done with it he says he'll be able to flog it on again and not make a loss on it.

At the end of the day its your bike and your money. If you want to do it for the sheer hell of doing it, wel thats fair enough. Its just not something I'd do.

i really can see your concerns, and i know it really sounds stupid but i love projecting stuff so eventually every stock part other than the engine + mods will be replaced if not upgraded in some way i was hoping for a GSXR 750 if possible front end to compliment because i really dont like A, the look and B, the feel from the shocks, buying a new bike does seem an obvious thing to do, the mods would raise my insurance from £378 per year to £676 TPFT, which is doable, The SV to me is my liberation on a personal level you will understand, might sound stupid/ rediculus/ pointless etc. . . so to me its worth it, but i definatly see what your all saying

As fizz said do your suspension upgrades first before going for more power!
