Re: My import order
ive ordered something from us, shipped by us postal service, think it may be stuck in customs, or very nearly there, ( is there anyway to check at all?????)
also with the charges that may be imposed, how do they work it if the item is discountinued, no longer made etc, or second hand, as ive ordered some snowboard gear, onl got it from us ebay as none in the uk and its discountinued, no longer made |

Re: My import order
Okay, so another argument for you. Well not really an argument but a question:
Why is it that we have to pay so much more than our freinds overseas? If the price was more competitive in the first place I would never even think about buying from abroad. I mainly buy PC components and they are mostly manufactured in the same country (i.e. malaysia) so why do we have to pay upto 50% more?. People import purely because we get stuffed here on prices, surely the government need to address this issue to solve the other? Just a thought anyways. |

Re: My import order
What I meant was why is it cheaper to buy something manufactured in X country from the US and ship it all the way here than to buy it here. We always seem to get the raw deal and always have done, ax wise at least. I guess that's what you get for living on an island eh?!

Re: My import order
F***ing Bl**dy Customs......
Well my stuff from the US arrived in the UK on the 3rd. Started chasing it on the 10th, was told it would go to customs on the 12th. It did, but now customs want to see a Certificate of Origin as its clothing thats in the shipment. So a delay based on that while I have to sort that out...... Also based on £1500 of stuff I am going to have to fork out about £400, tho figure is still unknown. Thats 25% of the value of the goods !!! This is based on a 10%-15% duty as its clothes, THEN another 17.5% VAT. Then because of the way the shipping company has it all fiddled, erm sorted out with the taxman, I have to pay THEM a surcharge due to them paying the Duty, then me having to pass that on. I can see full well why people just take empty/buy new suitcases and just stick stuff into it. |
