Oh perhaps i heard wrong then.

Its all about the figures....

Send everyone to Uni and then you get loads of people with worthless degrees, but at least 4 years of reduced unemployment figures.

Then re-introduce the apprentice scheme as a good thing - again we manage to get people off the unemployment figures but are still paying for their training etc.

Then with this last one its the long-term figures that are being massaged.

Going to start another thread to avoid derailing this one further

I do understand that some people have been made redundant and I don't inculde them in my generalisation.

I'm talking about the millions who are on the dole that have 5 kids, no job, house paid for by the DSS, etc etc.

nope doesn't make it any better. No offense but you look a very young lassie, you've yet to step into the real world of kids, jobs, homes, real life etc etc.
I spent 3 years at the beginning of my sons life unemployed. I chose that as a mother. Granted I own my house, but I claimed incapacity as I fractured my spine. I also recieved income support after the time ended on incapacity, but only as the relationship with my sons partner had gone upside down, and I had to do somethings quick, being a single parent. I'm no scrounger. It took me a while to get on my feet and work up gradually to full time work.
How would you like to categorise people in similar situations?

Sorry your still generalising. Don't think about standing for council...i wouldn't vote for you!

well its only a bit of friendly debate in this case
but think carefully before you say something like that, someone somewhere could take great personal offence.

I was just answering to give the other side of the coin, that is all

Yes I may be young, but trust me, I see real life everyday and I have to deal with the scroungers every day. Claiming benefits because you had a fracture in your spine is totally different from the people who claim the dole because they are too lazy to work and then have the cheek to say t me

"My tax pays your wages!"

I was only trying to illustrate my feelings that we allow too many scroungers to be on the dole. I am well aware that MANY people have legitimate reason and well deserve to claim benefits. At the end of the day, that's why we have a benefits system and why we should always have one but people who are ripping the p*ss out of it should be made to earn their money in some way.

As I said above, yes, it's only meant to be a bit of fun and not taken seriously.

I would now like to pass a law

All men should be tied to the kitchen sink, wearing nothing more than an apron.

If its good enough for them to require it, its good enough for the burds
