This thread may be of some help.

Not sure about engine damage, the basic theory is when you turn the switch off, sparks are fired wherever the engine is in it's cycle, can cause a little intake backfire or act like preignition. I doubt that once is going to kill the motor, but wouldn't flick it every 25 yards for 10k miles. That may cause a problem.

As for damaging catalytic converters... who cares?

There is nothing to turn the bike off it it falls over on the curvy. The pointy however has a tip-over sensor which will kill the bike for you.
Does chris mean here that the pointy just activates the kill switch when tilter or another switch elsewhere?
Also didn't realise you shouldn't press the kill switch on a pointy

Often overlooked, hope it's just that. check your oil level and stuff before starting.

No there is a seperate sensor which turns off the fuel pump. not neccessarily to stop the engine, but IMO, to stop it dumping a tank full of fuel over the road in double quick time.

The handlebar kill switch is totally manual I don't ever use my KS, but loads of people regularly do without ill effect I believe, Dave.

Good stuff, get very friendly with ebay. I used saved searches to email me when parts I needed because available. You'll only really know how bent your brace is when you try to fit a new nose. The holes for the mirrors will either fit on the brace or they wont, may fit with a bit of persuasion, but that'll leave your headlights pointing in slightly the wrong direction and maybe visibly wonky mirrors too.

How are the bruises? You looking like a bottle of red wine yet?

PS: I've used my kill switch to stop the engine for the last 20 odd thousand miles and it's been fine. Old habit from riding bikes with no ignition as a kid.

I dont suppose anyone knows of someone who can respray any of the panels, fairings and fender etc. Im quite desperate to keep the yellow colour on my bike and as im never going to be able to find all the parts in yellow im going to have to have them done afterwards.

Have a look at this thread and PM SV Rory, he seems to know what he's doing!

He may be able to do some panel repairs for you too if there's any broken bits of plastics that can be salvaged.

Let me know if you need a lift in the cage down to see him Milton Keynes with the parts one day, it's about an hour from Brum via the M40 and cross country from Brackley. I get my petrol paid by work and I wouldn't mind meeting him and seeing his work, I may get my SV resprayed at the beginning of next year.

sand, clean, primer, colour then protective outer spray layer, you can get the spray cans off ebay for £39 (i think) and do it in your garage.

I've got a headlight, fairing bracket, front fender (red though), L&R stock rearsets/controls, stock triples, stock indicators, and I'm sure a few other bits if you're interested. All in good condition (accident free and low mileage) and left over from my fork-swap/naked-conversion.
