If you can't get a hold of a ECU, I can sell you the restrictor kit with the throttle stop and washers for the airbox for £20+ p&p, theyre silly money new, and you're only paying for a certificate which has no legal standing and is not needed. |

The certificate has NO legal standing, it has nothing to do with the DVLA or police.
FI International produce the kits and certificate. Thats cheaper than most places charge, £230+ vat, + labour etc I didn't mind it, I changed to a ECU restriction a few months ago. Theres no difference performance-wise, no difference acceleration wise, 2mph top speed difference, but thats not here or inbetween, the SV hardly ever reaches its restricted top speed. The ECU may give better MPG, but I have also changed bikes, so that might have been the difference. And the fact when I had the throttle stop + washers, I used to loon around everywhere, full throttle *on my private track*. Nowadays, not so much. I noticed no change in the running of the bike, no problems so far with either restriction method. Hope that helps, and keep my offer in mind, David. |

Will you be ok in what sense?
Aye get a local garage to fit in, or if you're that way mechanically minded, ask the org and follow the instructions the give you. Thats the kit below. ![]() |

<=== with a lot less mileage than the one you're looking at. But then again i did buy privately so its always gonna be a bit better price. Make sure you get a decent warranty no matter what dealer you end up buy a bike from tho. And haggle like hell, especially in this current economic climate. I'm sure some shops would happily break even just to get rid of some stock.

I havnt read through all the pages.
If i was in your position, i would buy a bike derestricted and just get a restrictor separately for about £50 then get the dealer to fit it, or fit it yourself. £3300 on your first 'big' bike? Lucky bugger. Some of the links you posted seem quite good, but dont try to spend all of it. £3300 isnt a target - if you can find something nice for £2400 then go for it and spend the rest on extras and petrol. Good luck with your search |

As far as I'm aware the 33bhp "certificate" is not part of the producer documentation.

I paid £2600 for a tidy(ish) K5, 06plate, 4500 fully faired red pointy.
Just to try and put it in prespective. |

just to clarify no certificate is needed but any bike insured as res 33bhp upon an accident will be inspected by an engineer if found to be unristricted at that point insurance is null and void also police have the right (but never heard of it done EVER!) to send it to there team for legal inspection at any time
