so if i get a bike and fit the kit my self for get a local garage to do it i will be fine but i wont get a certificate so.... then if i was in an acident or somthing the bike would tested and if the rectiction was not fitted correctly and the bike outputed more power then 33bhp the insurance may not pay me out because i dont have a certificate with a signiture on it and i would have no case to fight because i would have no one to blame my self.

You can't really fit one wrong. If you do it wrong it will make less than 33bhp not more.

That's what the law says.

Amusingly, FI international will sell you a restrictor kit for a bike that puts <33bhp onto the back wheel.

Giffer2 is, or was selling a restricted pointy ECU for £70. Here: http://forums.sv650.org/showthread.php?t=132034

They occasionally pop up in the For Sale section on this site for around the £45 mark too! I know Ruth had one she was getting rid of around that price in the past.

Buy a pointy without restriction, add £100 tops for a 2nd hand restricted ECU. Get the bike, lift the rider seat, disconnect the ECU, and plug in the new one. Job jobbed.

You can still rev high with either. But I would recommend ECU.
