Ok I don't claim to be the fastest rider in the world, but I let the clutch out and I manage to bimble around ok in the inters/fast group on track days. |

No it isn't. If you don't do it that's fine, but you're wrong if you think it makes no difference or that it's not something you should bother with. I can't imagine how slowly you must release/slip the clutch if you're changing down to a gear that will mean the engine has to pick up 9 or 10 thousand rpm, especially a low gear.

My 750 only does 78mph in first on the limiter... you'll get used to the power delivery its huge fun around then 10000rpm mark, but yep its difficult keeping the front down sometimes isnt it ![]() As for blipping yes I do it, all the time, mainly because 1. It gives for me a smoother downchange 2. I like how it sounds 3. It annoys Liz when I do it ![]()

Well every racer does it, slipper clutch or not. But apart from that, it's a technique that has been used in all motorsport since the dawn of time. In cars you learn to heel and toe, not for fun but because it makes a difference - fact. It also, simply, makes sense if you think about the workings of the bike and the engine, and you can physically feel the benefit when you do it properly, in car or on a bike. Changes down to high rpm can be made much more quickly and can happen a LOT more smoothly.
It's so easy, with practice (I suppose it's harder if you use 4 fingers on the brake) that it doesn't make any sense not do it. (imo) |
