Default Road Legal Cans ?

As per my other thread about the fiasco over picking my '00 SV650s, i've been told that the remus can that is currently on it will not pass the MOT. Not an issue, as there is still a month left, so by the time it comes around to renew it the new can will be in and can be fitted.

Apologies for the dumb "noobie" question, but I take it that it all works on the sound from it??

I get to keep both cans too - so that's pretty cool.

Yeap, there is a maximum decibel limit but I can't remember it off the top of my head!

Oh no there isn't. The noise test is purely subjective

I was on about the UK legal requirement, and yes they can measure the sound if they feel it is offensively loud and they have the equipment!

The original question related to the exhaust and MOT and I answered specific to the question "but I take it that it all works on the sound from it??"

For an MOT there is no requirement for a noise test. There is no hard and fast rules about a certain DB or procedure to conduct a test. However, the MOT does require that the exhaust not be marked not for road use or similar. That may be the reason why the OP was told it would not pass an MOT.

For C&U, there are noise tests I have myself conducted them in a previous life in order to obtain type approval.

Excellent - cheers mate.

Can't recall seeing any sign on the Can (A Remus Grand Prix).

Why won't it pass an MOT? (according to a dealer?)

I would be finding somewhere else to get the test done.
