Default Not starting :(

Bike: 2000 sv650n 17k miles

problem: right the bike is kept outside and the other day I went to start it and it ran very rough and had sod all power. The next day tried to start it and it will not start I put the battery on charge just in case and nothing it turns over a treat and sounds very strong but it doesn't start took the rear plug out and there is no spark when trying to turn it over now I don't know bike so well but when I tool the lead off the plug on the cceramic end there was no little cap thing like on a car is just a threaded top is that how bike plugs are I've put fuel etc in but still nothing is there any ideas I've checked all the fuses etc and it was running fine last week

ps. Passed my motorcycle theory this mornin

Hmm...have you tried a little squirt of WD40 on the spark-plug leads, incase there is water moisture ingresion?

Could also be coil break-up, but I dont know alo about this really.

you don't have those little like screw on nipple things any more that's normal.what bike is it and year. even though starter is spinning has battery got enough juice some times on some bikes have enough power to spin starter but if voltage low won't spark.defo try bit of wd40 on ht leads and caps and on coils make sure both coils have there wires connected one coil is on the left and one on right just under air box on bike frame. you could pull the 2 wires off each coil and make sure connections are clean and good same at battery. also check connections while your poking round. if its a fuel injected sv there are 3 connector under the front of the air box near the head stock some times these burn out in the connect they look ok from the out side but when you pull them apart the plastic has melted and is stopping the connection if it is one of these wires you can just cut it either side of the plug and re connect with a electrical connection.

Check that front plug as it's the one that gets the most stick
