Hey Chaps,
Having a few starting issuses again ![]() Unfortunately the bike lives outside and had a bit of a beating from the weather. However, i was advised some time ago to remove the Immobiliser, so thats today's challenge. I'm presuming that i can't just snip the wires and hey ho, so any advice is greatfully appreciated. Rob. |

Don't just cut the wires, if you do it will be very effectively immobilised. Immobilisers, (and alarms that incorporate immobilisers) all work the same way, there will be one or more circuits that are broken and switched by the immobiliser; immobiliser on - switches off. Trace the wires from the unit, in the most common method of fitting they will pass into the bike's loom and you will see where a given wire has been cut and the two ends connected to two wires from the immobiliser unit, reconnect the original wires. Still, reiterating the above, if you have an electrical fault that you think may be due the immobiliser or, more likely its fitting, disconnect away, if not the 'advice' to remove it is odd, don't you think?

Good idea - the dealer fit CAT1 on mine seems to be pretty poorly fitted with lots of cheap insulating tape falling off of bare wires roughly soldered or just twisted together. When it gets a bit warmer I will rip it our and start again properly otherwise there will be problems in the future.
