I have managed to fit a set of Oxford heated grips to my 2000 curvy. I am aware that fitting both wires straight to the battery is less than ideal for the accidental activation, and discharge of the battery, etc,.
Can anyone help with a 'How To' guide on where and how to wire it to a suitable alternative like the headlight or rear brake etc so it is not permanently live. Pictures would be a bonus as I am needing as much help and detail as possible. Thanks H |

I did it on my 99 curvy as an excuse to buy more tools (wire strippers)! Easy enough to do. Got the relay for about £3 |

K3, but the curvy set up is similar. Look for the orange wire in the connector under your seat, there will be an empty slot in next to it the connector. You can run the power from the battery through a relay and feed your relay from the orange wire. |

I cant say I know anything on the SV electrics, but is there any need for a relay if following the above guide? Or is the orange wire a permanent live?

The Orange wire is the main switched live. I would most certainly recommend it pulls closed a relay through which a "user" fused connector block can be powered.
This is exactly how I have configured my GSXR. All axillary components can then be powered via this connector block on their own fused circuits with no further mods to the bike loom. In my case this is cigarette lighter, Autocom, power to heated gloves etc.

Don't connect electrical accessories directly to the bike's electrical system, accessories are inherently less reliable than the bike's own system, a failure can lead to a dead bike.
