Exclamation Possible gearbox problem?

Another problem with my 650s...

Changing into neutral from 1st is extremely difficult when the engine is on. It hurts my foot trying to force the lever up into neutral. The clutch is fully in as far as it'll go and engine is idling. I've tried moving the wheels a bit in case its caught or something, revving it.. but its just too stiff.
When the engine is off however, it glides into neutral like I imagine it probably should.

Also, clicking down into first while moving is stiff.

Is there a synchromesh on the 650s gearbox? Could that be a possible problem?

Help :S

Ive gota say, in my experience and from speaking to others with suzukis, you generally have to rock the bike forward and backward aggressively to get it to slip into neutral whilst your idleing. You could also try reducing the freeplay of the clutch ?

Sounds like your clutch not engaging properly.

Or chain tension or oil level but seeing as you never listen to me I'll let you rebuild the gearbox first

What's your oil level at? Having at excess oil in the gearbox can prevent it from shifting when stationary.

That's rubbish! Only if it's not set up right. Or laying on its side on the driveway covered in soapy water!

Got to say I've now got this problem...arrived at my dads house in Croydon and adjusted the clutch at the lever because low down changes felt awful...now can't get it into neutral whilst idling atall. tried adjusting it at the lever and it doesn't work.... Going to check the oil level (bit high) and adjust the cable at the gearbox end when i get back home....Also going to wd40 everything

if you're adjusting the clutch do the worm screw, gearbox end of the cable then the lever end. Search on here how to do it properly.

WD40 will only clean it, not grease it. You want to grease/oil/lubricate the cable

Yeah that's what I meant...I've read many many pages on the forum haha. Would engine oil work well? I've got a bit left from my last batch
