Before I go too far in an explanation...
Does anyone know anything about cabling these things? I have become the owner of a Labgear HDU681 and have not installed one of these before. The wiring diagram is here: http://www.beststuff.co.uk/store/Lab...-Amplifier.htm Any advice would be much appreciated! |

looks a bit overcomplcated for a domestic setup. You'll need the matching face plates to use the advanced features, else it could just be used as an 8 way UHF splitter.

My setup is the following:
Sky+ x2 to the front room (one will only ever be connected) 5x co-axial cables to various other rooms. I plan to run the sky cable to the splitter and then away to the point in the front room. I plan to run the co-axial from the aerial on the roof to the splitter and then away to each point. The above to me sounds nice and simple however what confuses me is the switch on the front of the panel, and also the return link (although it says that the plate I have doesn't need it) but will all other coaxial cabling to others rooms work? What on earth is the return for...?! |

It looks like the return is for the RF out from the sky box can be pumped back into the system and so be viewed on all the other sets. (at pants quality of course).

You're free to choose whatever font you want - you can split them all up if you like.

Ooh ok, I get it I think..
So because I have a dedicated aerial cable I can just terminate and then distribute without using any kind of return... Ha! Thank god for that! Any ideas what the switch is for? I'm guessing something to do with the return circuit again? I don't understand why you would want the switch though because why would you ever want to switch the signal off to another part of the circuit? |

I found this:
The switch in SAT mode sends the UHF and CCTV paths to the downlink instead of the room outputs, it also turns on the remote eye power. With the unit in UHF mode there is no need for either the downlink or uplink. Last edited by tigersaw; 24-01-13 at 11:59 PM. |
